  • We’ll be using ArcGIS Online for today’s demo. You’ll need to create an account here.

  • ArcGIS Online is compatible with Mac and Windows OS.




Workshop Goal

This workshop is meant to serve as an introduction to esri’s ArcGIS Online web-based browser. It’s a simple workshop, where you should be able to replicate some of the steps we cover today. You’ll also learn about NU’s GIS resources, services, and where you can find support for your projects.




Learning Outcomes

  • Define what GIS and web GIS is

  • Identify different types of GIS data and formats

  • Understand basic mapping functions and tools

  • Create a basic web map
